Fire advices & Fire Risk Assessments

To ensure that you're not liable & facing the consequences should a fire break-out, you must ensure that a number of regulations and British Standards are met.

The first and most important procedure is getting your current fire risk assessment updated. It is advised that this should be done periodically or when building and process changes are made.

If you fire risk assessment has not been updated in recently, the risks that can be found and reduce might differ. There are many regulations regarding the necessary fire equipment that is needed for your building, including British Standards 5839-1 and the the Fire Safety Act.

An example of this would be fire extinguishers. Should your building have more than 2 floors you must have at least 2 extinguishers per floor.

To meet fire regulations you must:

	Have an up-to-date fire risk assessment with the latest changes to your property
	Ensure that your fire evacuation procedure is updated

	Ensure that all staff have reveived sufficient fire safety training
	Ensure that you have the correct fire equipment and that it is positioned in places that it needs to be and is meeting that associated regulations
